Sprunki Gray Treatment Edition is a mod of Sprunki, retaining the core: drag and drop characters to create music. But instead of going in the direction of glitches, distortion, or warping, this version brings everything back to… normal. The problem is that this “normality” isn’t as comfortable as you might think, as it may lead to a more predictable and less innovative musical experience compared to the original Sprunki mod.

You still do what’s familiar: select each character, place them on the soundstage, and listen to them create layers of sound. Kick, snare, hi-hat, a little synth, and sometimes even piano mixed in. The difference is that this time the sound is cleaner, less broken or distorted. It sounds clear, rhythmic, and even builds up quite nicely. At times, I perceived it as reminiscent of light dubstep, characterized by a gentle quality that allows for extended listening without fatigue.
The first thing that’s easy to notice is everyone is “normal” again. Ratty is no longer as tense as a string. Aox is no longer distorted. Skye looked a little worried, but it was still Skye. Garnold looked like he was sweating, not malfunctioning.
Overall, no one was disfigured. But no one was genuinely happy either. It felt like a room that had just been through something, now cleaned up, but the atmosphere was still heavy.
The game almost entirely focuses on Gray, and rightly so. When you add Gray, things don't fall apart or jump out of place. But it's off. Just a little, but noticeable. Something like a cut-out dialogue. An apology that's unclear to whom.
This version has pretty good mixing. The drums are solid, the piano sounds soft, and the background layers bring the mood down just right. It's not chaotic like some other versions but feels like a complete track being built. There are sections that sound quite triumphant, like victory music. But strangely, the longer you listen, the more somber it becomes.
Sprunki Gray Treatment Edition makes things seem "normal"... then lets you figure out what's wrong. It's like a technically successful fix that inadvertently reveals a problem you hadn't noticed before.
