Sprunki Infected Remastered begins like a normal Sprunki session. Characters step onto the stage, sounds stack together, and another catchy melody starts to take shape.
But the longer you look, the less normal everything feels.
Pepper's restoration transforms the world into a realm infected by some unknown. Familiar faces reappear in disturbing ways and background elements signal that something is extremely wrong. Even the clouds seem alive and with their roaming eyes give the sensation that you’re being observed from somewhere just behind the music.
The most striking feature of Sprunki Infected Remastered lies in its character design. Almost all the familiar members appear with new looks, but not in a more beautiful way, but rather in creatively distorted forms.
Orange seems rusty and warped beyond the normal. Ratty's torso is contorted in a strange upside-down way. Clukr’s face is a crisscross of sharp frigid fissures, as if broken from the inside. Some characters are superficially damaged, while others appear to have been totally eaten by this nightmare. Every design has a narrative to convey, without telling it. Players can guess what happened in this universe by simply looking at their status.
The interesting thing is that the music is very fascinating in spite of the terror. Every character has a distinct sound. Together they make strange but addictive combinations. There are times when the music changes from spooky tunes to strong beats, you want to keep adding characters to the stage to see what’s next. The beauty of this mod is that it keeps gamers interested and absorbed in the music.
Sprunki Infected Remastered is more than a music mod and has numerous mysteries. As you explore you will find a mysterious key and odd symbols that emerge on the screen. A mystery character will talk to you, telling you scary things about disappearing, the sad ending of those who came before, and the fate of those who are interested enough to discover the truth.
Following the clues methodically will unveil a secret cutscene that tells more about the struggle for survival between the remaining protagonists and the expanding contagious force.
